Art Events, Screenings, & Performances in August
As another August in the Bay Area rolls around, get ready for these artsy events, screenings, performances, and the annual return of Outside Lands Music Festival. Get outside to watch some sort of creative event– there are tons of free concerts happening before the festival, too.
MISSION VOICES OPENING
Southern Exposure’s Mission Voices Summer (MVS) is a FREE four-week intensive summer arts program for youth aged 14-21. Young artists learn to use the visual arts as a tool for expressing ideas, ambitions, and creativity. The program culminates with a group exhibition featuring the work the youth artists have created throughout the program.

The Bay Area’s favorite music festival Outside Lands returns to Golden Gate Park on August 9 – 11. This year’s headliners include Paul Simon, Childish Gambino and Twenty One Pilots. Although it may be difficult to find tickets, this year’s edition is not to be missed, especially after the announcement of Grass Lands, a new marijuana-themed section of the hyped festival.
