SF General Hospital Has New Sirron Murals

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

The Pediatric Emergency Department at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital got some new murals by an SF muralist and local favorite Sirron Norris.  Norri’s style is unmistakable, just ask anyone who lives in the mission or NOPA about ‘those murals with the blue bears or bunnies.”

As described by the San Francisco Arts Commission, “The new artwork, The Land of the Helping Hand, is a colorful fantasy scene depicting iconic Bay Area landmarks and a cast of animal characters lending each other a hand (or paw). The immersive artwork evokes feelings of joy and happiness in a setting where families and youth often find themselves in stressful situations.”

“Since the opening, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital has received critical praise for its expansive public art collection, which helps contribute to a healing and positive environment,” says Director of Cultural Affairs Tom DeCaigny.

“Sirron’s murals are an oasis of warmth, life and color everyone loves and appreciates,” says hospital CEO Dr. Susan Ehrlich, “patients and staff alike. We are so grateful to be their home.”

The San Francisco Arts Commission is the City agency that championed this mural work as well as many other works of public art in our city. Thanks to them we’ve got more art up by a local artist, in a place that greatly appreciates it.  To see more of what SFAC does for our city visit sfartscommission.org.

To See more of Sirron’s art just walk the streets of San Francisco, or follow him on twitter.com/SirronN or instagram.com/sirronnorris
