Art Parties, Outdoor Dancing, & Every Kind of Creative Festival in SF

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Broke-Ass Stuart is a proud sponsor of the SF Docfest!  A wonderful festival full of great independent films and really fun events all over the SF!

It’s festival season in the Bay Area.  And no, I’m not talking about  some massive $300 a ticket, portapodied, music festivals.  Fuck no.  I’m talking about art filled openings, rooms full designers of the future, standup comics & comic books, DJ’s and dance floors, films and photographers, a party dedicated to the worst art in the world (hosted by Broke-Ass Stuart), with an ever-present eye on a good alcohol sponsorship.  Yes, my friends, it’s springtime in SF, magic is in the air, beer and wine are in your cups, and art is everywhere, see you weirdos out here!

Brewmaster Opening at Docfest

The Docfest opening party, film screening, & mini-brewfest is an event after my own heart.  You get to watch a movie about the rise of craft beer making AND THEN drink beers from +10 brewers, all while eating pizza from DNA Lounge & Paxtis and jamming to Radio Valencia DJs.  Benjamin Franklin once said, ‘Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy,” and Ben Franklin would have loved this event. Taste Lagunitas, 21st Amendment, St Archer, Pilsner Urquell, Hop Valley, Ft Point and Gordon Biersch with your choice of deep-dish or regular crust pizza!  Tickets are just $22, now that’s just wonderful.

Clusterfest

It’s all the comedy, in one clusterfuck of a festival.  The entire Civic Center including Bill Graham gets packed with funny.  It’s rare that you can see so many world-class headliners at one event, plus tons of great up and coming comics from the bay and beyond.  This year they have all the heavy hitters from comedy central headling and a bunch of fun hiphop shows from the Wu-Tang Clan to Salt-n-peppa.  Literally too many shows to list here.

Examine anxiety and depression across unfamiliar landscapes. We explore the peaks and valleys, internalized solitude and personal triumphs that come with the territory.  This exhibition was created out of an intention to battle mental health more productively and, by speaking up, to inspire positive change for others.  All proceeds (apart from those covering materials & event costs) will be donated to the Anxiety Depression Association of America (ADAA).
