San Francisco’s most uplifting Thanksgiving tradition is Glide serving more than 5,000 Turkey Day meals to people in need, and Glide is on a last-minute blitz to prepare the hundreds of turkeys and hams, 1,500 pounds of potatoes, 950 pounds of fresh vegetables, and 312 gallons of stuffing necessary to pull of this year’s Thanksgiving at Glide.

While a donation to Glide is the quickest and easiest way you can help, they also need frozen turkeys galore, volunteers, toys for the toy drive, and your support with their many other charitable efforts they’re coordinating throughout the holiday season to help San Francisco’s neediest residents.

TURKEY DROP

The most urgent need Glide has right now is for more frozen (and fresh) turkeys to serve for Thanksgiving. Just three days out from Thanksgiving Day, Glide is still hundreds of turkeys short of what they need for Thursday.

You can drop a donated turkey at the Glide Memorial lobby (330 Ellis, at Taylor Street) anytime Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., (you can even just pull up to the loading zone, security monitors in yellow coats will grab your turkey for you!) If you snap a selfie of you donating your turkey and tag @glideSF on social media, Glide will share out your post to their tens of thousands of followers, which is a pretty good feeling.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP SERVE MEALS

The Thanksgiving Day volunteer shifts are all covered, but Glide needs meal servers practically every other day. A Glide Memorial representative tells BrokeAssStuart.com that “Thanksgiving shifts are full as our many of the bigger holiday giving events, but we have plenty of volunteer opportunities throughout the week and our especially in need of help during breakfast and lunch shifts.”

You can sign up online to volunteer to serve meals at Glide, and they do need servers on pretty much all of the days that aren’t big holidays.

THE GLIDE ANNUAL HOLIDAY JAM

The most fun and musically fabulous way to support Glide this holiday season is by attending the Glide Annual Holiday Jam (Nov. 28, tickets here.) This year’s Jam will feature live performances by India.Arie, Lisa Fischer and lots more. And the event is hosted by Renel!

GLIDE TOY DRIVE

Glide also runs a Holiday Toy Drive, and you can contribute just by buying something from their Amazon Wish List that will go directly to a certain San Francisco youngster in need.

ATTEND GLIDE MEMORIAL CELEBRATIONS

You can also support Glide Memorial just by showing up for Sunday celebrations (Every Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.) And you’d better believe there is a Thanksgiving Day Celebration too, ar 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
