Glide Holiday Jam Is Back As A Livestream, But With An Amazing Lineup

Of all the ways to help Glide at Thanksgiving, none is more fun than the Glide Holiday Jam. It will of course be an online livestream this year, but the Thursday, November 19 gala has a star-studded lineup featuring appearances by Michael Franti, Joan Baez, India.Arie, Goapele, and many more, plus Renel Brooks-Moon as your emcee, and naturally, the Glide Ensemble and the Change Band.

This big-ticket event will be free to stream this year, but they do ask that you RSVP online. Glide would obviously also appreciate it if you make a donation to Glide, after all, it helps pay for the 15,000 free meals Glide hands out each week.

“Now, more than ever, it is important to come together and lift up marginalized voices by demanding racial justice and social progress,” Glide president and CEO Karen Hanrahan says in a statement. “We look forward to an evening of soulful music, powerful spoken word and celebration to raise awareness of Glide’s life-saving work and leadership in fighting injustices.”

If you do want to black-tie-and-ballgown it up, Glide is also offering VIP Gala Kits and Swag Bags that “will include custom cocktails, gourmet treats, Glide merchandise and more.”

This event will also be the first time since March that the Glide Ensemble has performed together, since Glide’s famed Sunday celebrations have been online-only since the start of shelter-in-place. The vocalists will all be stitched together via video, but they tell us they’ve got something pretty powerful lined up for the audience, ensuring that even though the 2020 Glide Holiday Jam will be virtual, it will still be unforgettable.
The 2020 Glide Holiday Jam is Thursday, November 19, at 7 p.m. PT. RSVP required and donations recommended.
