Classic Simpsons Trivia Returns w/ Simpsons Inspired Food, Drinks, & Bowling!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Mission Bowling Club is about to become Barney’s Bowl-A-Rama. But don’t put your head in the Shine-O Ball-O!

On Sunday, Oct. 3, from 5:30-9 p.m., Everything Ecstatic presents the long-awaited return of Classic Simpsons Trivia. Hosted by Springfield Shopper contributing editors Adrian Spinelli (whose mom would be butting in with Rice Krispie Treats and Tang) and Zack Ruskin (who’s rebellious, in a conformist sort of way), it’s a special version in that the food-and-drink menu comes straight from Laurel Randolph’s incredible “Unofficial Simpsons Cookbook.”

There will be no Creamed Eel, donuts from a rampaging Lard Lad, or vat of delicious TUBBB!, but there will be Steamed Hams, and Impossible Sloppy Jimbo’s, Flaming Moe Shots, Simpson & Son Revitalizing Tonic, and — best of all — Duff Beer on Draft! Trivia winners receive an award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence, but instead of a honey-baked ham and a discount-coupon book, you win signed copies of the cookbook!

“Henceforth, this date shall forever be known as Flaming Moe’s Day!” – Mayor Quimby

Tickets are available for teams of four or six, with or without a bowling add-on, in case you have a hankering to beat the Holy Rollers or the Home Wreckers. (Disclosure: Broke-Ass Stuart, the two organizers, and I literally have a group text chat called Pin Pals. But none of us has ever won a lobster harmonica from the mechanical-claw game.) In between the four rounds of trivia, they’ll be screening episodes from the show. In other words, this is a really good deal for several hours of fun, with low-low prices that would make Mr. Plow jealous.

If you’re panicking because you haven’t watched an episode of The Simpsons that aired after 2001 even though you have Disney Plus, don’t act like the PTA has disbanded. This is Classic Simpsons Trivia, meaning all the questions come from Seasons 1-10! So if you got irritated with Armin Tamzarian or thought the show lost its edge after Phil Hartman’s murder, you’re in good company.

Passing this up in favor of some other event, possibly in Ogdenville or North Haverbrook? Oh you better believe that’s a paddlin’.
