Japanese pop culture rules. The nutty hair-dos, goth style, cool music, photo booth arcades and wacky fashions are 100% fawesome and I just can’t get enough. Makes me want a big, steaming bowl of ramen. MMMM…

Now that I’ve sufficiently generalized an entire country’s popular culture (and poorly at that), I must tell you about the sure-to-be awesome J-Pop Summit Festival, happening this Saturday in Japantown’s Peace Plaza. The event is hosted by New People, the kick-ass, three floor store/theater/cafe offering the latest films, art, fashion and retail brands from Japan.

The day-long funstravaganza will offer a Gothic and Lolita fashion show, live painting, awesome bands, a gourmet food court and to top it all off, a Harajuku makeover contest. If this sounds like your idea of a good time (which it should!), do your best Gwen Stefani circa 2004 impression and get schooled on Japanese Cool.

Alison Lambert - Half Price Headliner

Ali was born and raised in the Wholesome/Creepy capital of the world, Salt Lake City, UT. Once she was old enough to blow that pop stand she escaped to the place that was the anti-SLC: The Peoples Gay-public of Drugifornia aka San Francisco (holla 30 Rock!). You can now find her throughout this glorious city slurping Pho and scheming with her best friend Pinky doing what they do every night; try and take over the world.
