The KQED & Noise Pop Festival Looks Awesome

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

When two wonderful SF institutions get together to throw a block party it’s a great reason to get excited.  KQED has teamed up with Noise Pop and is blocking off the streets in front of its storied SF headquarters and opening up its doors for an all-day, live music-infused, street festival with delicious local food vendors, legendary Bay Area talent, and of course, some of your favorite KQED journalists and personalities.

Yes that’s right, KQED Fest is here! If you’re like me and you grew up watching KQED programs and spent many nights at indy shows put on by Noise Pop, this is a great way to soak up some Bay Area nostalgia and see what’s new and current in Bay Area culture.

Tours & Behind the Scenes Access!

If you have kids, parents, or friends who are interested in journalism, podcasting, or just media broadcasting in general, KQED is opening up its doors to everyone.  You’ll be able to go behind the scenes, experience being on mic or on camera with KQED producers, try media-making workshops, and take newsroom and studio tours.

PRO TIP: If you have time, shoot up to the beautiful rooftop at KQED Headquarters for stunning views of the City and the entire Mission neighborhood.

KQED, NPR, & PBS LIVE!

Your favorite KQED, NPR, and PBS programs will be live onstage! With the journalists of Bay Curious, Frontline, Deep Look, Mina Kim of Forum, and A LOT more excellent public programming for every kind of curious mind, all free, all day! (FULL Schedule & Set times below).

Great food & Bev!

For you West Coast craft beer lovers…Fieldwork Brewing Co. is an event sponsor, so whether you are chowing down Bacon Bacon’s delicious Bhat Mi or The Chairman’s Coca-Cola Braised Pork puns, you’ll have some of the finest California craft beers to wash them down with, while you bob your head to some of the incredible live bands and performances.

And for you coffee and ice cream lovers Calaca Coffee & Humphrey Slocombe will be serving up a storm, amidst a street fair full of interactive all-ages art, science and learning activities.

Incredible LIVE Music

We are most looking forward to jamming out to La Misa Negra, they bring high energy cumbia and high-energy Afro-Latin music that gets EVERYONE in the crowd dancing, we saw them perform at Radium Runway this summer and it was a super fun dance party.

But there is a lot more impressive local talent on the big outdoor Noise Pop  stage this year with B R I J E A N‘s Art Rock, dynamic Latin music by Bululú, and tons of other great pop-up performances throughout the day.
