The Best Old School Party Games You Still Want To Play
This post is brought to you by the fine folks at Dos Equis
I was hanging out with my buddies the other day and one of them brought up how much he misses playing games at parties. So this got me thinking – what are some of my favorite games from back in the day that I haven’t played in a while?
Now let me be clear. There’s nothing wrong with getting together just to enjoy one another’s company around a good football game, but sometimes it’s nice to mix things up.
I’ve found that these are a particular hit during football season. Some days the game’s a blowout, sometimes your school aint playing, and sometimes you just want to have fun during all the commercials. So without further ado, here are the funnest, most classic (albeit sometimes silly) party games to spice up your college football game day party.
Paper Football
Remember making these paper footballs? No? Well here’s some instructions on how to fold properly. As you can see you can make the goal posts out on of nearly anything, you can even make a ‘U’ with your owns hands in front of your face, which gives the field goal kicker the added bonus of hitting you in the forehead everytime they split the uprights. Game On.
Party Charades
It sounds corny because your parents played it, but it can be the ultimate ice breaker. This game gets everybody’s pulse up a bit because it forces everyone to be an actor, and stand up in front of everyone for a minute. If you forget the rules here is a charades step-by-step. A good theme is to do actors from famous movies, it can be priceless watching people try to act like Tom Cruise from Mission Impossible or Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator II.
Get More Beer, Food & Interesting People
When it’s time to accommodate a more sophisticated brand of guest, (namely anyone other than your immediate buddies). Go down to the store to get some chips & dips like a civilized host, and of course re-up on the ‘good’ beer. When a larger crowd is coming over, you can even set up multiple games stations so that everyone has a chance to be part of the action.
Card Games
Spades, Rummy, or Crazy 8’s are all decent party games for groups, and there are a zillion others. If explaining quasi-complex game rules to your friends gives you a headache, then simply go with a game like War or Go Fish.
Dominoes!
The best game if you’ve got a small group of four to chill with. It’s just enough like arithmetic to keep people engaged and the perfect game for trash talking to your friends over beers and chips.
