Oakland Gets a Shake Shack!
Oakland’s very first Shake Shack opened for business Tuesday.
Located on the ground floor of the brand new “workplace re-imagined” Uptown Station on Telegraph Avenue, the city’s newest burger joint is bringing the fast food game with more than just burgers.
Hot and spicy crinkle cut cheese fries, anyone? How about flat-top Vienna beef dog?
The menu boasts chicken sandwiches, double burgers, fat pickle slices and even grilled cheese on potato bread. For the sweet tooth, the new spot serves frozen custard, floats and shakes, of course.

The chain calls itself a “modern day version of a roadside burger stand” and claims its “dedicated to ensuring that ALL” meat is antibiotic and hormone free sourced from suppliers that share their values.
What started out in 2001 at Manhattan’s Madison Square Park as a hot dog cart evolved into a permanent kiosk in 2004 before venturing into brick-and-mortar life that swept the country by storm.
For the near future, hungry customers will have to get their shack on by pickup or through third-party app delivery only, but according to the first four Yelp reviews, all five stars, the food is worth standing in the pickup line.
