Since we’ve been such good little citizens during the pandemic, our Covid infection rates are putting us into ‘Red Tier’ by next week.  What is ‘Red Tier’ you might ask?  It means we can join NYC in indoor dinning and indoor museums at 25% capacity!  So check your favorite restaurants, galleries, and museum for their hours of operation (starting March 3rd as long as infection rates stay low).

With that said, here are awesome and safe, artsy things to do whether their are covid restrictions or not!   All this stuff can be done outdoors or in the safety of your own home, except for the van Gogh exhibit.

Well this looks super fun!  Make a clay pipe with Bay Area ceramic artist Sarah Duyer, master of pots and pipes. This workshop is great for beginners and beyond. Make a pipe in the comfort and safety of your own home. In this two hour online workshop you will learn how to make two pipes.

Museum of the Hidden City Walking Tour

A fascinating audio & AR walking tour in Japan town and the Fillmore. Stuart and I took our ladies on this wonderful walk through SF history, that takes you through the dramatic redevelopment of the Fillmore in the 1960’s, as Justin Herman ‘modernized’ and displaced an entire community of San Franciscans.  The tour’s narration by Oakland’s Poet Laureate Samuel Getachew is incredibly beautiful, sad, and eye opening.  You get to see what the Fillmore used to look like using the mobile AR features, and meander through the neighborhoods present, with a view of the past.  The tour is free, thanks to The Museum of the Hidden City.  Tour takes a couple hours, if you stop for a beverage break in Japan town like we did.

Stream SF opera for free

See Verdi’s comedic masterpiece this weekend, streaming for free starting Saturday at 10 a.m. thanks to San Francisco Opera.  And you can hear from the Opera’s directors too via zoom!
Falstaff Description:  With drink after drink, the knight Falstaff buries himself in greater and greater debt. But he’s already cooked up a plan to weasel his way out of poverty. After all, how hard could it be to seduce England’s wealthiest housewives? He’s about to find out.

The women turn the tables in Giuseppe Verdi’s final opera, Falstaff. Adapted from Shakespeare’s beloved comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor and parts of Henry IV, this masterful ensemble comedy stars Welsh opera icon Sir Bryn Terfel in the title role.

SFs Underground Symphony

Filmed and performed in-person (and at a safe social distance!), OCEAN features the premieres of three new music videos, featuring an original performance by choreographer and dancer Babatunji Johnson (!!), and conversations with composers Kevin Day and Ivan Trevino. As always, the musicians of One Found Sound will be there to livechat with you during the show.

(415) Public Gallery: Your work on our walls, a crowdsourced art show

Youth Art Exchange announces the 3rd annual, (415) Public Gallery, a virtual art show that places the public as both exhibitors and audience members. Exhibiting (hopefully!) 415 pieces, the curation of the art show will be crowdsourced from those living/working/loving in San Francisco. No, we really mean EVERYONE, whether they consider themselves an artist or not, we want everybody’s creativity in our gallery. All ages/backgrounds welcome.

Work will be on display online starting on April 6, 2021. Join us for a virtual (415) Opening Celebration on Thursday, April 15, from 6-7pm.
