Gut Bombs for Broke-Asses at Buttermilk Channel
Just because I may not be able to afford to buy a new iPhone so I can put an end to strangers asking me if my shattered screen is an app (Like, really? Why. Just please think about why someone would want an app that makes their very expensive phone close to useless for 2 seconds before asking that question), doesn’t mean I don’t want to enjoy a least some of the more luxurious things in life. I am obviously talking about ingesting more calories in one sitting than a person should in a week, and I am talking about doing it at Buttermilk Channel.
So, I should tell you I’m now going to refer to this place the BC, as if we are besties, because it is now very close to my heart after the $25 3-course fixed price menu I devoured on Monday night. BC’s situated on a typical darling Carroll Gardens block with decent outdoor seating and an indoor space that is bright and makes you feel fancier than you are. We ate the bar due to “I’m going to eat your wispy forearm, stylish hostess!” levels of hunger, and even though the lady bartender was carelessly rude to us and the patrons around us, the dude bartender seemed to just know what a terrible person she is and made up for it by being twice as nice to everyone around.
Each of the courses was unbelievable, but I will happily shave years off my life just to eat more of the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Cheddar Waffles. The desserts were a knock-out, too… it felt like a Catch 22 that the only reason I couldn’t finish the Chocolate Bread Pudding covered in salted chocolate butterscotch sauce was because I ate all of my chicken. So go, and go hungrier than you feel comfortable being to make sure you don’t miss a crumb. Or, just bring your leftovers to me…
