Floating Brothel: A Show at Galapagos
Remember the first time you heard about Australia being populated by British convicts? I was convinced I was being lied to. But no, the all-male British penal colony of New South Wales existed, and somewhere along the line they decided to start sending female convicts there too. Guess the ladies had to keep the dudes in line. And now there is a play about it.
Based on historical accounts, Floating Brothel tells the story of the first shipload of women convicts sent to Australia. The entire show is performed by five actors, Megan Campisi, Max Dana, Kyle Davies, Loren Fenton and Liz Vacco, and takes place on a 3×6 platform. The cast and crew of Floating Brothel are making a one night stop in Brooklyn before heading off on their Asian tour, so don’t miss this performance. Make your way to Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO on Monday night, and get FREE pre-show cocktails provided by Prohibition Distillery! Also, the post-show party will have FREE food by Dumbo General Store. Tickets at the 'œstarving artist' rate are $15.
