You probably know that I’m a big fan of Emperor Norton by now. He was SF’s original eccentric weirdo and was much loved by the City’s residents. I wrote about my love for him and for Emperor Norton’s Boozeland right here.

Well it appears that it’s Emperor Norton’s 199th birthday and The Emperor’s Bridge Campaign is throwing him a party.

At The Emperor’s Bridge Campaign, we always do our research. And our research makes us 99.9% certain that Joshua Abraham Norton — the future Emperor Norton — was born on 4 February 1818.

We’ve made it our custom to celebrate the Emperor’s birthday every year with a party and cake.

Stuart Schuffman, aka Broke-Ass Stuart, is a travel writer, poet, TV host, activist, and general shit-stirrer.
