Knitting is for Pus**** by Olek
Knitting goes in and out with being the “it” hipster crafting activity, but Polish artist Olek isn’t the kind of knitter who works on scarves on the train. She’s more likely to knit a cocoon around the train itself. Her knitting sculptures are giant, we’re talking camouflage covers for convertibles, tents, step ladder covers, face masks for people, bodysuits for people, and free standing life sized yarn people. Her current show, Knitting is for Pus**** is on display at the Christopher Henry Gallery through the weekend. If you’re pro-knitting, you’ll love it. And it’ll change your mind if you’re anti-knitting. And the fun doesn’t end after you leave the gallery. You can grab and map and find the objects on the Lower East Side and Nolita that Olek crocheted over.
