Get Thai’d’ Up at Pad Thai

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I went to this place called Pad Thai in Bernal Heights last Monday night. My roommate Heddy took me there. It was kinda way out there, but it pretty much hit the spot and was hella cheap. We had three dishes and beers for about $30. Perfect. We didn’t do anything drastic but stuck with the normal Thai delights. We had vegetarian spring rolls with a really good sauce ($6.50 for four), Tom Yum Gung soup which was very lemongrassy and spicy with shrimp ($9.50 for a big bowl), andthe Panang Curry with fried tofu and veggies in an awesome basil-coconut red curry sauce ($8.50). We were so full we even had left overs!

Anyways, if you are over paying too much money for bland Thai food, give Pad Thai a try. From the name of it, I am guessing they must have really good Pad Thai – or they just think that is the only Thai dish most people relate to. Either way, I’ll give it a shot next time.  I heard the Pumpkin Curry is pretty bomb, too…it must be lunch time – I’m gonna break out my left overs right about now. Oh yeah, it is closed on Wednesdays, but opened from 11 am-10 pm every other day.
