With Smitten’s new Mission location, they wanted to team up with one of the neighborhood’s most beloved food institutions, La Cocina, to give everyone a literal taste of the Mission! La Cocina is a San Francisco kitchen incubator with a mission to cultivate low-income food entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses by providing affordable commercial space, mentorship, and more. Many San Francisco favorites have been born from La Cocina, including Estrellita’s Snacks, Alicia’s Tamales Los Mayas, and Kika’s Treats.
Smitten is inviting six entrepreneurs from La Cocina to enter a bit of a food fight! The entrepreneurs will be bringing some of their best ideas and some of their most unique ingredients to make a custom ice cream flavor, using Smitten’s Brrr machines. You’ll get to enjoy a taste of each flavor; meet the founders of Smitten Ice Cream and La Cocina as well as the entrepreneurs themselves; and be among the first to see our Mission shop and taste an exclusive flavor before it hits their menus. Attendees will all be able to cast a vote for their favorite, and the winner will be on their menus for a limited time! A panel of esteemed ice cream-lovin’ judges will also be there to provide their feedback. A portion of each ticket sale will be donated to La Cocina.
