Rich Silverstein: I Read the News Today Oh Boy

Tuesday- Saturday 11:00 am – 6:00 pm, through 7/31| Minnesota Street Project, 1275 Minnesota Street | Free

Art and current events merge in this new solo presentation by Rich Silverstein. The exhibition features a series of works created with text and images hand-ripped from The New York Times, and reflects on the odd ironies and surreal experience of the Trump era.

 

Taco Tuesdays @ The Valencia Room

5:00 pm – 2:00 am | The Valencia Room, 647 Valencia Street| Free

Who says you can’t party till dawn on a school night? Taco Tuesdays at the Valencia Room will bring the weekend to your Tuesday! DJs Eli, Jimmy Hits, and Tony Play will be spinning hip-hop and Latin tunes all night, so you can dance away your troubles, and with $2 specials on tacos, beer, AND tequila, you can go as hard as you want for as long as you like!

How to Date in Person Again with Relationship Expert Logan Ury

Hear Me Out: Residency Showcase Opening Reception

5:30 pm | Tenderloin Museum, 398 Eddy Street | Free 

Join the Tenderloin Museum’s artist-in-residence Deirdre Weinberg to celebrate the opening of her new exhibition of portraiture. Made during the past two years, the prolific series of portraits was made in-house at the museum, where Weinberg painted her subjects – all Tenderloin locals –  and let them tell their stories. This exhibition brings those conversations to the forefront, and weaves a fascinating tapestry of local, living artwork.

 

The Roxie and Fast Times Present: A Very Special Screening of Velvet Goldmine

Doors at 6:30 pm, live music at 7:00pm, screening at 7:30 pm | Roxie Theatre, 3117 16th Street | $20

Experience the classic film on the big screen, with a delicious side of live music! This very special screening of Todd Haynes’ Dionysian, music-soaked movie, will kick off with a screening of music videos by the likes of Shannon and the Clams, and will also feature a live performance by Andrew St. James.

Cubcake

Cubcake is back at The Lone Star Saloon and promises “more beats, more sweets, more treats,” and honestly, what more do you need to know? That DJ Chaka Quan will be spinning records? That you can get in free if you’re a member of the Saloon’s 500 Club? That there will be hot cub action all over the dance floor? Bottom line: get there!

 

Nicki Jizz presents: Reparations! An All-Black Drag Show

Check your white fragility at the door and get ready to put your money where your black square is – Nicki Jizz is bringing you the tops in Black Magnificence. Emperor Norton’s 10th Anniversary Celebration

You all know him, and you all love him – our dear Emperor Norton (aka reenactor and costumed tour guide Joseph Amster) is celebrating ten years of historical magic! Join the Emperor himself for a Parade down Market Street, ending with a picnic at St. Mary’s Park. Wear your best imperial finery!

Fog City Flea Returns!

Every Sunday, starting today, the Ferry Building will be taken over by Fog City Flea Market, a fabulous curated market of makers and artisans. Stop by for a selection of the best-of-the-best in locally-sourced, handmade, and vintage deals!

 

SOMA Second Saturdays

Join the SF Leather and Cultural District for a monthly market of the queer, kinky, and clever! Featuring the work of local artists and makers as well as clubs and organizations, SSS is a fun and fabulous way to to mix and mingle with other kinksters in a safe and friendly outdoor environment.

 

Monday, 7/12

The San Francisco Invitational Jam

Every Monday, 9:00 pm | Tupelo, 1337 Grant Avenue | Free

Hosted by Andrew Coutti and Young Blake on drums and bass, this is the definitive Jam in San Francisco. Each week there will be a different special guest vocalist, as well as myriad other exceptional local talent popping in no doubt. Talk to either host before the gig if you’re interested in performing – they take this sh*t seriously though, so bring your A-game!

Lizzie Locker has been an artist, entertainer, and “glamour girl” since birth. Since 2017, Lizzie has been writing professionally for small businesses, as well as creatively. She has published essays in VIE Magazine, and has written website and social media content for pole dance studios, afterschool programs, and reference sites. At the same time, Lizzie has also continued to develop her performance career at queer nightlife events across the Bay Area. She can be found both onstage and off, reading her stories aloud in bars, emceeing drag and burlesque shows, and producing arts events that defy genre and expectation.
