Specs’ Twelve Adler Museum Cafe Gets New 10 Year Lease!

Anyone who knows me know how much I love Specs’. It’s hands down my favorite bar in the world. It’s weird and quirky and full of artists, writers, a drunks – both young and old. I wrote this pretty wonderful story about it right here.

I just saw some good news on Facebook: Today they were able to sign another 10 year lease thanks to the Legacy Business Registry and Preservation Fund. This fund was one of the thing i advocated for when I ran for mayor last year.

Here’s what the FB update from Elly, Specs’ daughter, said:

I am very pleased to announce to you that Specs is secure for the next decade with our new lease. special thanks to our Supervisor Aaron Peskin for nominating us for legacy business status and with that great news I am going to join my brother and daughter for lunch! See you all in the hood!

We’ve seen a lot of really wonderful, legendary, and meaningful places close down in recent years. So it feels REALLY good to win one for once. I don’t want to live in a San Francisco without Specs’.
