The Best Fish Sandwich in the Wharf

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

There is actually a place in Fisherman’s Wharf that will not leave you broke and still hungry for more. Salty’s Famous Fishwich at Pier 43 1/2 serves the best fish sandwich in town for just $5. It is humongous, delicious and the price can’t be beat. Forget all the other tourist traps in the Wharf and satisfy your hunger at Salty’s.

The Famous Fishwich consists of a fried fillet of Cod served on a sesame bun and topped with heaps of their amazingly crunchy coleslaw. The slaw is made to perfection without too much mayo to get it all soggy. Salty’s also has some great garlic fries (but watch out – they might not be the best idea if you are on a date), and they also serve other typical dishes like clam chowder in a bread bowl. But believe me, the Fishwich is where it’s at!

Bring some friends down on a sunny day and chill out on the outdoor picnic tables with some beers, watching the tourists stroll by. Salty’s is totally casual and you order at the counter. It’s just past the main restaurant row – so you won’t be overwhelmed with crowds – nor high prices.
