Help Kelly Malone Kick Cancer’s Ass on Thursday!

SO by now you probably know about Kelly Malone, the DIY Queen of SF, and her mission to beat the shit out of the evil, crazy expensive cancer that’s come back around to creep on her like an ex who just doesn’t get the hint.  We told you how to donate to help Kelly pay for surgery, hospital bills and pain meds and promised we’d be sharing more fundraising opportunities with you as we learned about them — and LUCKY YOU, we always keep our promises!

Thursday night, The Independent is hosting Kelly Malone v. The “C” Word Benefit Concert featuring so many awesome bands it’s almost not even fair, including Social Studies, Royal Baths, Carletta Sue Kay, Art Museums, and The Sandwitches.  For $15, you get to hang out, listen to crazy tunes and witness our very own Stuart get in on a little MC action; for $50 (VIP status yo!), you get all that PLUS upstairs access, where you’ll be spoiled with amazing eats from Bar Crudo, Q, Little Star Pizza and MORE!  You’d totally go to this concert even if it wasn’t a benefit — now you’ll get the extra satisfaction of knowing you’re totally doing your part for one of the coolest broads in the city.  Because, seriously, fuck cancer.

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
