Hostelling International’s FREE 100th Anniversary Party in SF
I’m not a fan of camping or dorms. I’m pretty sure camping is why houses were invented. And the only purpose of dorms is to make you so miserable freshman year that you’re forced to go out and make friends. Hostels are a combination of dorms and camping, but somehow the marriage of these 2 shitfests makes for 1 fun experience.
The only hostel I’ve stayed at was in Taos, New Mexico. Yes, I had OD’d a little on the tranq I took for the flight to Santa Fe, but what I remember was pretty fun. Ok fine, I don’t remember it at all. But in theory, hostels sound awesome, if for no other reason than that they’re cheap and you’re probably meeting new cool people in some new exciting place (i.e. bunking with weird strangers and getting your shit stolen). For people that don’t already live here, that new exciting place could be San Francisco.
On Saturday, August 29th, the three SF hostels are playing host to the FREE 100th Anniversary Party celebrating 100 years of the hostelling movement and the 75th anniversary of Hostelling International USA. Events include a FREE pancake and mimosa brunch, a FREE wine and cheese reception, a FREE bayside BBQ, music, DJs, plus scavenger hunts, prize giveaways, and open houses/tours at each hostel.
