Do you ever look at your closet and say to yourself, “Fuck, I hate everything in here.”  I know I do, and I also know that I can’t afford to buy a whole bunch of new shit to replace the things things I’m tired of.  One answer to this dilemma is to do what I do: become a master of making new outfit combinations out of the same old things.  The other answer to bring all your shit down to Score! on Saturday and trade it for a bunch of new gear.

Hosted and sponsored by a bunch of media that you may or may not care about (Bust Magazine, Flavorpill, MeanRed, Yelp, L Magazine, Hearty Magazine) Score! is a pop-up swap where you can take those piles of stuff that have been giving you minor panic attacks, and trade it for other peoples’ piles of stuff.  To be more exact:

You bring your old records, clothes, accessories, housewares, art supplies, books & DVDs. Volunteers sort and distribute these items to various Score! departments – Music, Apparel & Accessories, Art Supplies, Housewares, Books & Media, Random Gems / Miscellany. Then, you can browse each department and take whatever you like. Seriously, the sky’s the limit. Take as much as you can carry because everything is free!

It kinda sounds like a ying-yang version of that show Hoarders, but way more fun and with less dead cats buried under stuff.  If I was in NY this weekend I would totally be there.

While there is a $3 cover charge, all the money will be donated to City Harvest, a program which feeds New York’s hungry teeming masses.  Just make sure that you RSVP here because this thing is gonna be packed.  As a bonus, they’ll let you download an awesome mix tape when you do.
