Christmas Lights/Bike Ride Funtastic Extravaganza!!!
If you have a bike, and are overwhelmed with the holiday spirit (like this guy), then ride on over to the Panhandle Statue on Fell and Baker, this Sunday, December 20th at 6:30. SF Bike Coalition is having it’s Sixth Annual Christmas Lights Ride and it’s sure to be bike and light-a-rific. There was a hint of caroling whilst riding, which fulfills my unexplainable instinct to start singing every time I ride a bike. I think I fool myself into thinking that me riding quickly past people somehow renders them deaf or makes me a better singer…or something. I don’t know, it’s science. It’s also wrong, but singing in a group of riders is way less weird. Or more weird. You decide.
Either way, the ride is FREE, but a $5 donation is appreciated. They’re a great org and do an awesome job of making San Francisco as rider friendly as possible. This is also a great opportunity to deck your bike out in some sweet holiday cheer, have some holiday treats and toasty drinks with strangers (bring some to share because Jesus likes sharing), and see some lovely light displays around the city. The ride is 12-15 miles and the site tells you to “expect some ups and downs,” so if you’ve got noodle legs, or just want a shorter ride, they have a less intense version.
Have fun getting your bike on, and remember not to drink your hot coco too fast. You’ll burn your tongue.
