Send Off 2009 and Annie’s Social Club with FREE New Year’s Eve

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I doubt I’m alone in thinking that paying an expensive cover for an open bar staffed by cater waiters in a hotel conference room-turned-nightclub is pretty overrated. In fact, I’m willing to bet most readers’ New Year’s Eve plans involve at least two of the following: mini bottles of champagne in someone’s purse, heading to a neighborhood bar before they start charging cover, ill-advised whiskey in a flask, or one potential house party.

But if you’re still looking to fill in the gaps, consider this one: beloved music venue Annie’s Social Club is closing it’s doors after tonight 12/31/09, so to celebrate their 4-year run of underground shows they’re inviting everyone to send off Annie’s along with the rest of 2009. Drink specials, a midnight champagne toast and a DJ are standard fare for New Year’s, but FREE cover can be scarce on the 31st. (Plus, come on…it’s Annie’s!) The details:

The Penny Pincher’s NYE Ball: “Closing Time”
Annie’s Social Club
917 Folsom at 5th St. [SOMA]
Thursday, December 31
FREE Cover, Drink Specials, Champagne Toast at Midnight. 9pm – 2am

And don’t forget you can take free Muni there and get a free cab ride home.

Andrew Dalton - Aggressive Panhandler

Andrew is an East Coast transplant from Virginia hamming it up in San Francisco without any intention of leaving. Having worked every typical job from Bike Shop Employee to Bartender to Ad Agency Hotshot, to Dotcom Layoff he now busts his ass covering the "weird things to do" beat for gracious local audiences at SFAppeal.com and rallies the Western Addy/Lower Haight/Panhandle neighborhoods into action at AggressivePanhandler.com. His work was published in a real, paper magazine one time. One day he might even figure out how to make money from it.
