Feel the Hot Wind on Your Shoulder Tonight at Mexican Radio!

Updated: Sep 07, 2010 21:31
The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Move the dial all the way over to the far side and catch the airwaves tonight at my newest cheap swill border buster, Mexican Radio, tonight at the Lone Star.

In the finest of traditions, the Lone Star is playing the part of a skuzzy antro just on the periphery, where the streetlights never seem to work and the door is never in the same place it was last time.

Inside, DJ Carsanova will manning the frequencies, mixing sounds from here to Mexico City, already in full steam as the eve of the bicentennial is upon us.

I’ll be helping out behind the bar where we’ll be serving up tequila and vodka for $3.

In case things get a little hazy, local vendor El Huarache Loco will selling tacos and other botanas. Just remember not to get lost in the cuarto oscuro.

Stephen Torres - Threadbare-Fact Finder (Editor, San Francisco)

Stephen's early years were spent in a boxcar overlooking downtown Los Angeles. From there he moved around the state with his family before settling under the warm blanket of smog that covers suburban Southern California. Moving around led to his inability to stay in one place for very long, but San Francisco has been reeling him back in with its siren song since 1999.
By trade he pours booze, but likes to think he can write and does so occasionally for the SF Bay Guardian, Bold Italic and 7x7. He also likes to enjoy time spent in old eateries, bars and businesses that, by most standards, would have been condemned a long time ago.
