El Farolito Bar: Drink Cheap Beer Instead of Waiting in Line for Your Food
The El Farolito Bar advertised for like a month telling me that I could watch the Pacquiao vs Margarito fight there. I’m a big boxing fan, and I love seeing Manny Pacquiao fight, so I was pretty excited. On the night I arrived though, the security guard informed me that somebody had dropped the ball and there would be no boxing to watch. Bummer. But I decided to stay for a drink anyways.
I ran into some friends there who had also been seduced by the opportunity to see Paquiao whoop some ass, so we had a few drinks together before they decided to go next door to El Farolito the taqueria and some grub. I stayed back and had another cheap beer (under $3 if I recall) and told them I’d meet them in a bit considering I knew they’d wait in line for at least 10 minutes before they got to order. As I was leaving the bartender told me that it was silly to wait in line next door because, since they are owned by the same people, I could just order food right at the bar then hang out, watch some soccer and drink a beer. The food would then be delivered and I could eat it there! Not only that, the same person also owns Mission Kitchen across the street and they’ll do the same thing. So the moral of the story is: I’m never waiting in line at either of those places again.
