Graffiti is an both a beloved art form and a scourge of the city, depending on who you ask. With sites like the Wooster Collective and street art being used to sell everything under the sun, it has gained just as much if not more prominence then it had in the ’80’s. Using the idea that street artists will keep tagging no matter what legal obstacles, DBD, a street artist and skater from Miami who has set up shop in NYC, decided to form an accessories company that sold blank backpacks for artists to use as canvases. That eventually evolved into Sprayground which makes backpacks, duffles and totes featuring DBD’s original and collabos with other noteworthy street artists, like world-renowned graffiti artist Cope2.

If you’re not exactly handy with a spray can like myself (unless you count “O’Doyle Rules” on the side of a wall) than you can snag some free Sprayground gear for yourself and leave the street art to the experts.

All you have to do is stop by Sprayground’s Facebook Page, hit “LIKE” and leave on comment on their wall saying Broke-Ass Stuart sent you. One lucky commenter will then receive this Sprayground Tote Bag from their new line.

Laura S - Spendthrift Scribe

Laura S, left the "sixth borough" three years ago to settle in Brooklyn. After working at some daily rags, she now does writing on the side but still eats more Ramen then necessary. When she's not moving residences every 6 months, eating her way through every neighborhood, and trying every microbrew known to man, she is unsuccessfully rediscovering home economics. With her binging days behind her, she's now exploring new projects and rediscovering the city that she loves (although is still prone to sliding on her knees during a Prince karaoke set).
