Phone Home at a FREE Showing of E.T.– This Thursday Under the Brooklyn Bridge
Summer in New York City means many things to me: rooftop BBQs, beach trips, pit-stained white tops. It also means FREE movie screenings in DUMBO’s Brooklyn Bridge Park, which are pretty much the highlight of my summer. Set against the gorgeous backdrop of the glittering Manhattan skyline, the park’s Movies with a View series certainly lives up to it’s name. There are seriously few things in this world more satisfying than staring at that kickass view, knocking back a bottle or two of Trader Joe’s vino with your pals, and taking in a classic movie– especially when that movie stars a wrinkly, goose-necked alien who hangs out with child Drew Barrymore.
Yep, Movies with a View starts up again this Thursday, July 5th, and will kick off the season with the classic E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial. As a kid, I was so terrified of E.T. that I could never watch more than five minutes of this movie– but now that I’m 25, I’m hoping that I can make it through the flick without calling for my mama every time that hairless cat with a potbelly waddles onscreen. Other upcoming movies this season include: Clueless, Wet Hot American Summer, and To Kill a Mockingbird, so there’s also a lot of cine-magic to look forward to that doesn’t involve creepy aliens. Each FREE screening will also feature some jams DJ-ed by Brooklyn Radio, short films curated by BAMcinématek, and FREE bike valet. This shit is so Brooklyn, dudes.
Music starts at 6pm, movies start at sundown. The full-schedule and info for Movies with a View can be found HERE. See ya there!
