Need to impress your OKCupid date this weekend? Show them your inner bookworm and take them to a FREE literary event.  On Saturday, December 1, Babylon Salon’s Winter Reading features prize-winning writers Namwali Serpell and Wesley Gibson. These two acclaimed authors will read at Cantina SF at 7:00 p.m. Other readers will follow.

Serpell’s fiction has appeared in The Caine Prize Anthology of African Writing
2010, Best American Short Stories 2009, Tin House, Callaloo, and The
Believer. She received a Rona Jaffe Foundation award and teaches English at UC Berkeley.

Gibson is the author of You Are Here: A Memoirof Arrival and the novels Shelter and Personal Saviors. His work hasbeen published in The Village Voice, the Mississippi Review, and other journals. He is an editor at Bloom literary magazine and on the faculty of St. Mary’s College MFA Program.
