NYC is Looking For Writers and Interns
Broke-Ass NYC is Looking for Unabashed Interns & Writers
Besides being named “Best Local Website” by the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Broke-Ass Stuart has been called, “The Chief of Cheap” by Time Out New York, “an Underground Legend” by the SF Chronicle, and “Best Local Writer” by SF Weekly. But to those familiar with his work, he’s just “that douchebag who writes books about cheap stuff and drinks a lot” .
He’s also currently looking to add a few writers and interns to his New York team, and if you enjoy cheap stuff and shit talking then BrokeAssStuart.com is for you.
Who You Are:
You’re an aspiring writer, journalist, poet, or a know-it-all jerk who pontificates on topics that range from the high cost of living to sharting glitter on New Year’s Day.
You’re looking to build your portfolio by getting your writing published online.
You like to receive invitations to FREE concerts, plays, comedy shows, etc.
You can write 300-800 word posts that are informative and/or unique.
You can contribute 1-4 times a month.
You’re not afraid to be yourself.
We’re especially interested in writers who want to cover events (photography skills a plus, not a must), editorial interns and marketing/social media interns.
What We’ve Accomplished:
In 2011, Stuart had his own travel show on IFC titled Young, Broke and Beautiful
Stuart has published two travel books: Broke-Ass Stuart’s Guide to Living Cheaply: San Franciso and New York.
We host the Young, Broke and Beautiful Party, a monthly music/art event at Brooklyn’s Dardy Bar.
Stuart now hosts San Francisco’s ONLY late night talk show, “The Kinda Late Show With Broke-Ass Stuart”.
We receive 100,000+ unique visitors each month.
We have over 16,000 fans on Facebook. We think that’s kinda neat.
Our contributors have also written/worked for: New York Natives, SFist, The San Francisco Chronicle, Cannabis Now Magazine, The Village Voice, Stonewall Inn, Knitting Factory, Openhouse, Buzzfeed and more.
At the present moment there is no payment for contributing, but we’re in the process of acquiring sponsors for the site. If you’re interested, please send us two writing samples that would best describe your style and a brief blurb about yourself to NYC@BrokeAssStuart.com.
