All I gotta say is…damn. I think most of us have had at least one wonderful night there, I’ve had many. From readings for Muni Diaries Live, to Richie Cunning shows, to awkward first dates, I’ve spent many nights between those hallowed walls. Here is the article I wrote about The Elbo Room for my Weeknighter column a little while back…damn

This is sad, aspects which make the Mission special are being changed into businesses whose sole purpose is to make money. I understand that everyone wants to be wealthy, but not when it is being done at the expense of the community and the business owners are not contributing back to society in any way.

What’s up with the space that used to be Paradise Lounge at 11th and Folsom? That *was* a cool place in the 90s when they had live music downstairs and small live acts upstairs. Artists like Cake, Heavy Into Jeff, Third Eye Blind, Engine 88, NoFX, Carlos, and Oranger played there. Are they asking too much?
