I’m pretty sure this was the first website to ever write about Blackbird. You can read the funniness here. So it’s exciting that we get to share this new Blackbird Bazaar with you. This sounds like a pretty amazing event. It’s happening Sunday, April 24th from 2-6pm. I’ll be there hanging out for sure. I’ll let Ariel Dunitz-Johnson, Blackbird’s curator, tell you more below:

Blackbird, the beloved bar located in the heart of San Francisco, is a dynamic space known for carefully handcrafted cocktails, rotating artwork, and laid-back atmosphere. Blackbird is more than a bar; it is a destination where artists and creative people come together.

Many artists have struggled to maintain a voice in SF and have even been displaced. As Blackbird’s art curator and a local artist, it is my goal to provide a space where we can come together. From the beginning of Blackbird, owner Shawn Vergara, has been a supporter of the arts. Blackbird collaborates with local craftspeople and artists to reflect San Francisco’s electric culture.  I was looking for a new avenue where Blackbird could support artists besides the bi-monthly art shows I curate.  Inspired by the many craft fairs popping up around the Bay Area, the Blackbird Bazaar was born.

The Blackbird Bazaar was created to foster community and connect creative individuals of the Bay and to showcase a piece of what makes this city so amazing: people with creativity, perseverance, and vision. After endless research and numerous visits to marketplaces, I curated a group of local, creative businesses and makers for our initial launch. We’re extremely lucky to have 10+ local vendors that include ceramicists, jewelers, woodworkers, custom candle makers, pop-up shops, and much more. We hope this will be the first of many Blackbird Bazaars.

While at Blackbird, grab a drink from our new spring menu and shop for unique pieces for that special someone (even if that’s yourself). Remember, Mother’s day is coming up and you don’t need to go to Neiman Marcus to sip cocktails and shop; just come to Blackbird!
