Speak-up Please: Queer Community Meeting on Living, Working and Gentrification in SF
Queer? Angry? Something on your mind? Well you’re in the right town, right? Hmm, good question. Activism seems a little play nice these days. Rally! Just don’t irritate people.
Um, maybe, but we still have tons of places to get wasted and trashy'.
Well, that depends. You, say, can’t hang out on the patio half the time at the Cinch anymore (as well as a few other spots) due to precious little condo denizens who just can’t take those noisy homos (and who also simultaneously killed off the ever-charming Charlie Horse.) Never mind the place has been there since the dawn of time.
They need their sleep! Polk is clean now. Get out already.
Oh, yeah and find a place to live, vagrant. Rents aren’t that bad. But a trifle really!
Could it be that Sodom-by-the Sea’s pricing out and simmering down its children? Well, I never!
Pride at Work/ HAVOQ seem to think there are a few issues in this here berg that may merit some discussion and will be doing so this coming Wednesday at CounterPulse with their night, Queer Workers: Class, Gentrification and Struggle in San Francisco.
Hash it out kids.
