The Entire Bay Area Region Now Under Highest Lockdown Rules
In December, Gov. Newsom announced a regional stay-at-home order, which would order counties with critically low ICU capacity to shut back down.
As of today (12/17/2020) the Bay Area’s regional ICU capacity has dropped to 12.7%, meaning the entire region will be forced to join a stay-at-home order starting tonight at 11:59 p.m. This will affect Napa, San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Solano counties. The rest of the Bay Area counties had already entered the new restrictions voluntarily.
The newest stay at home orders are the strictest yet imposed. You can read about all the restrictions in your area here. These orders will remain in effect for at least 3 weeks. After that period, they will be lifted when a region’s projected ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15%. This will be assessed on a weekly basis after the initial 3 week period.
