Cheap, Local and Original Mexican Food at Cholulita
Cholulita from appearance looks to be your average bodega, but for the people who know and for the curious, this is actually a great little restaurant with wonderful service and an accepting, laidback atmosphere. Often there are local Mexican guys going into the place for the imported Mexican sodas and for the authentic Mexican food. They have a jukebox too, which is constantly playing all your classic Mexican romantic favorites – which you have never heard of and truly believe all sound the same. But you love those tunes nonetheless, don’t ya?
This is the kinda place you can go to get away, not run into anyone you know, and enjoy the spectacular food. Tostadas and tacos go for $2.00, huaraches and quesadillas $4.00, burritos $7.00, and the enchiladas $9.00. But if you go for the burritos or the enchiladas you better be hungry or have someone to split the meal with, because those dishes are huge. NO JOKE!
I’m really into tipping, so tip the waitress when you go to this spot. It may be easy to forget since you pay at the front counter next in line to a guy buying cigarettes, but you still get table service and still should give a little extra something something for the attention. I have never felt anything but welcomed at this spot, and I’m sure you will too. So try it, it’s worth it.
