New York’s Transit Museum presents Inside the Archives: Dual Contracts
Did you know that nearly 100 hundred years ago most of New York’s transit system was developed through something known as the Dual Contracts? According to the New York Transit Museum, they were “agreements that dictated the construction, rehabilitation and operation of the rapid transit lines in New York City.”
On Tuesday, December 3, archivists Carey Stumm and Desiree Aiden will be at the New York Transit Museum presenting and discussing these vintage photographs, which depict and examine this time of massive construction in the city.
If you’d like to take a peek into a small piece of the museum’s permanent collection, make sure to stop by between 12:30pm-1:30pm. The discussion is FREE with admission ($7 adults, $5 children and seniors).
