Skeleton of Actual Unicorn Discovered in Siberia

This is real, the tales of the mythical creature are apparently anchored in reality, and no we are not talking about David here:

According to a study published in the American Journal of Applied Sciences, the Siberian unicorn – Elasmotherium sibiricum – last walked the Earth about 29,000 years ago.   And it may have looked more a little more like a rhino than a white stallion.

According to USNews.com they found they uncovered the unicorn remains in the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan.  Based on the skeleton it stood about 6 feet 6 inches tall, measured around 15 feet long, and weighed about 8,000 pounds.  That is 3-4 times heavier than your average modern day horse.

This discovery could lead to more uncoverings of the unicorn’s ancestors, and who knows, maybe one day we will unearth our favorite version:
