Age: 25

Occupation: Writer

What neighborhood do you live in?: Sunset

Best money saving tip: Healthy eating. Pre-planned snacks are the best way to remind yourself the day doesn’t have to suck. You can’t be angry at someone while chewing a carrot. That’s why Bugs Bunny was clever. He was chill enough to plan in advance and really put things in motion instead of getting wild.

What do you refuse to spend money on?: Gasoline.

Most expensive thing you’ve ever bought: My first car. Then I crashed it. Lesson learned.

How’d that feel?: It felt like taking the bus without the fear and resentment. The possibilities were endlessly exciting, but that ended quickly at $5 a gallon.

Favorite cheap eat: Taqueria Cancun. You can get a great burrito for five bucks in the authentic Mission location or do the same in the accidentally entertaining crack-head infested Market location.

Favorite dive bar: I’ve had some interesting nights at the Boomerang.

Best deal you’ve ever gotten: I got $1,000 off the pretentious Apple I am writing on right now. Be that low friend with people in high places.

Favorite free thing to do: Go for a walk. If there is a better walking city than San Francisco I haven’t found it. People underestimate how good it is to watch other people losing their time while you take some for yourself. It’s perspective for what you are doing when you are hustling, usually pretty funny.

If you woke up a millionaire, what’s the first thing you’d buy?: The rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film franchise. If that’s worth more than a million, then life-size replicas of all the Turtles to protect my house.

Despite not having money, do you still love your life?: On paper my life sucks but in reality it’s awesome. I’ve traveled to many countries and many states, always returning with single digit dollar amounts to my name. There is nothing more satisfying than that way of life. Experience over possessions is a bet I love to make.

Do you own my book?: I own your San Francisco book. I bought it at Urban Outfitters. What does that say about me or about you?

Best hangover cure: Be hydrated BEFORE you start drinking. It’s the best foundation for a chance at having a next day. And coconut water. Before or after, the quickest way to kill your hangover is coconut water. I learned that from Brazilians.

Are you a hipster?: I don’t own glasses ironically, so no.

Broke-Ass Stuart - Editor In Cheap

I've been called "an Underground legend": SF Chronicle , "an SF cult hero": SF Bay Guardian, and "the chief of cheap": Time Out New York, but to those familiar with my work, I'm just "that douchebag who writes books about cheap stuff and drinks a lot".
