Love Notes and Other Disasters

I’m very excited to announce the release of Love Notes and Other Disasters.

It’s been 10 years or so since I made my last zine. Back then I was doing Broke-Ass Stuart’s Guide to Living Cheaply and that fat little bastard was packed with all the best cheap stuff I found in SF. I’ve done a lot of things since then. I’ve put out three Broke-Ass Stuart’s Guides as actual books, created and hosted my own TV show, started a popular arts and culture website, been published by lots of famous publications, and traveled all over the world. That said, I’m still attracted to making and doing things that people can actually hold, smell, and shove in their back pocket or purse. That’s why I decided to do another zine. Almost all of the stuff in here has only been published online and I want the work in here to actually live on your bookshelf, or at least in your bathroom.

Love Notes and Other Disasters is a 60 page collection of some my most popular pieces (like Living in San Francisco MeansWhy You Should Fuck a Writer, and Smelling the Things She Dreamed Of) mixed in with things that have never been published before. Some of it is poetry. Some of it is prose. All if it is dope stuff. The themes are obvious: love, sex, nostalgia, loss, and San Francisco. Somehow, all of these themes seem to find their way into most of the pieces.

Plus there’s art in there from such amazingly talented people like Wendy MacNaughton, Jon StichMike Kepka, Nicki Ishmael, and Myleen Hollero.

And the beautiful  layout and design was done by Michael Yap.

And the best part is, I’m selling this zine for only $5! That is SO cheap! Think about it like this: if you’ve ever wanted to buy me a beer, this is probably cheaper and something that will last longer. Plus it means the world to me have people actually want to own my words.

If you like what I do, please buy a zine for yourself or a friend.

Regardless, thanks for supporting. You are amazing.

ps. big shout out to Doc Pop for hipping me to Piedmont Copy and for trying to teach me some adobe program.
