Tonight and tomorrow are the Grand Opening of The Church Key (1402 Grant @ Green) the second bar by Broken Record owner Jason King.  I’ve been lucky enough to drink there during its soft opening period, and let me tell you, it’s easily one of the best bars in North Beach.  Not only does it carry exotic beers you’ve never heard of from around the world, but they keep us poor folk in mind by also having $2 domestic crap beer too!  And don’t even start me on their mini pot pies…holy fuck!

I heard the real reason the Ottomans sacked Constantinople in 1453 was because the Byzantines had perfected the pot pie and the Turks were hungry.  Well not really, I just made that up.  But what I didn’t make up is that there’s gonna free beer and wine tastings at The Church Key tonight, which of course means I’ll be there.  It all starts at 5pm so get there early to make sure you get a seat.  Click here for all the official event details.
