When Sid OD'd he was trying to figure out a way to shoot up sushi.

The sun is doing a strange thing here in San Francisco.  It’s shining.  Brightly.  In July.  I made the mistake of wearing a wife-beater yesterday while searching for Divine Nonchalance and now have a very silly looking sunburn line.  I sometimes forget that I’m actually a ginger kid who’s hair turned from red to brown as he got older.  I’ve still got a ginger kid’s complexion.  It hates the sun.

If for some reason you get tired of being outside in the lovely weather all day, there are a couple great things you can do this evening.  The first is the Incredibly Strange Picture Show which is playing Sid & Nancy tonight at Cafe Royale for FREE.  If you remember last month they screened the Wattstax movie, which is nothing but awesome.  I like this picture show series.

The other thing I’d like to tell you about comes from reader Kate Bueler who wants to share with you where to get some bomb-ass cheap sushi.  This is what she has to say:

Not sure if you remember me telling you about this but I went to the ICHI Happy Hour at The Knockout on a Wed and I was able to have four sushi rolls for $12 and $2 beers for 2 hours- not free but a pretty good deal. Plus since you are there early you can catch the music without paying the cover or negotiate a better deal.

Turns out they have more throughout the city.

Mondays '¢ Bender’s 6'”9 PM (806 S. Van Ness @ 19th St.)

Wednesdays '¢ The Knockout 6'”9 PM (3223 Mission @ Valencia)

Thursdays '¢ Mr. 6'”8 PM (560 Sacramento near Montgomery)

Friday '¢ Swig 6-8 PM (561 Geary btw Jones & Taylor)

There you have it.  You can probably squeeze in both the cheap sushi and the movie tonight.  And if you are looking for something to read on the bus ride between the two, make sure to grab the Guardian today.  This week’s feature is all about FREE stuff to do in the City, and your’s truly has a piece in there.
