More Craft for Your Cash: $5 Etsy/MoCFA event!
Oh, hi there Etsy! What are you up to on Thursday? What’s that? You’re having a Craft Event at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art in San Francisco? Stellar! It’s free for students and a measly $5 for non-students? There’s live music and free* beer? Hooray!
Etsy (aka the site where I could easily spend every measly penny I earn.),
will be participating in the Craft Labs night at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art in San Francisco. The Craft Labs usually center around one simple project, although their site states that there is a “free-form Stitch and Bitch” for those who “prefer a less-structured craft experience” aka you rebels who hate to be given any instructions or are already bad-ass crafters.
This month, Katy Kristin (she of the gnome dolls and wood pirate ship pins!) is showing crafters how to turn that old Cosby sweater into a plush pal or a cup cozy.
The free live music at this event is from “local favorite” Allie Simpson who has an infamous surname but zero web presence so… your guess is as good as mine there.
*Your $5 admission fee gets you one free beer (there was no info on the site about free beer for those youngsters who are admitted free as students), admission to the gallery, and supplies for the craft the host is teaching.
Not a bad deal in a city where even a decent sandwich is gonna run you $7+, so steal a fiver from your roomie, grab the ugliest sweater your significant other wears and turn it into a stuffed creature to keep him/her company long after you’re gone.
