FREE Day at the Contemporary Jewish Museum

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

This Sunday, April 11th in honor of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco is FREE all day! I usually like going to museums solo so I don’t feel rushed by my companions, but this seems like an event best spent with friends and loved ones. At 2:00 PM the Bridge Players will present Tales from Terezin, “combining string chamber music and spoken word to tell the story of Jewish composers who wrote and performed in the Terezin concentration camp.”

The official word is that “families” can make a special art project together, creating tissue-paper collages inspired by actual poems written by children living at Terezin. I’m sure you and your friends would be considered a family in this case. Just be on your best behavior and quit hitting your sister!

It’s hard to be Broke-Ass-style snarky about the Holocaust (OK, like totally inappropro), but this looks like a cool event and it’s got that whole FREE thing going for it! So, Jew or not Jew go get your remembrance on with some chamber music and DIY tissue paper collages.

Alison Lambert - Half Price Headliner

Ali was born and raised in the Wholesome/Creepy capital of the world, Salt Lake City, UT. Once she was old enough to blow that pop stand she escaped to the place that was the anti-SLC: The Peoples Gay-public of Drugifornia aka San Francisco (holla 30 Rock!). You can now find her throughout this glorious city slurping Pho and scheming with her best friend Pinky doing what they do every night; try and take over the world.
