FREE Breakfast and Bike Tune-Ups on Bike To Work Day Tomorrow
If you’re a hardcore bike commuter – like the guy who looks like he’s in the middle of a triathlon as he rides down Market Street on his way to a fancy FiDi job – then you probably laugh at things like Bike to Work day, which the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition puts on every year. But if you’re average Joe or Sally who happens to own a bike which you sometimes ride to work, then the SFBC has put together some good reasons for you ditch another crowded Muni bus and stretch your legs on your way to the office tomorrow.
First of all, if you’re a bicycle commute rookie, you might want to think about joining up with one of their commuter convoys leaving from pretty much every neighborhood in the city because they will undoubtedly take the easiest and flattest route downtown. Plus you might make some new friends.
If you’ve been around the block a few times and you’ve already got your secret route to work all planned out, then I might recommend popping by one of their Energizer Stations around the city where, depending on which one you go to they’ve usually got complimentary (read: sponsored) breakfast snacks like granola bars, coffee, and whatever brand of fitness water is currently doing a PR campaign. (Last year I walked by one and I came away with a bottle of Propel and 2 packs of Peanut Butter Nature Valley granola bars.) Check the map for your closest station.
Finally, if you’ve been totally neglecting your two-wheeled love machine, check the list of Energizer stations for the ones with the “Complimentary Bike Doctor” and roll your old girl down there for a FREE tune-up so you can stop being so lazy and start riding that thing to work again.
