Happy Hour Bliss at Uva Enoteca

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I hate photos of things that make me hungry. Like this and James Franco.

Tired of the same old boring mimosas at brunch?  Yeah, me neither.  But don’t $10 bottomless bellinis sound good too?  The key word being “bottomless,” of course.  Get on this deal immediately at the Saturday and Sunday brunch at Uva Enoteca, the Italian resto/wine bar in Lower Haight.  Guaranteed to get you majorly buzzed!

That’s not really what I want to rave about, though.  The real scoop here is Uva’s happy hour, which runs from 5pm – 6:30pm Sunday through Thursday.  This awesome deal includes $1.50 beers (GOOD beers at that, like Peroni), $4 eight-ounce carafes of wine (GOOD wine), and $4 plates.  It’s not all bar bites, either — you can totally snag a normally-priced $13 salami pizza or a pretty good portion of some kind of pasta special for a mere four bucks.  I also hear fried gnocchi is a frequent guest on the happy hour food menu and you better believe if something’s fried, that something is going into my mouth immediately.  (That’s what she said?  No?  Didn’t think so.)

As a side note, this is a cute place to take a date for all of you assholes who do fun things like that with people you like.

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
