FREE Shows and Ticket Giveaways to the Mission Creek Festival
The Mission Creek Music and Arts Festival officially kicked off with yesterday’s free happy hour at the Make Out Room, but there are still plenty of events coming up all over town this weekend between the musical acts at Amnesia, Eagle Tavern and the Knockout and the film screenings at ATA Gallery. All of which wraps up with the capstone, FREE all-day concert at McLaren Park this Saturdy, July 17th featuring the Fresh & Onlys, Grass Widow, Ganglians and more.
But if you were thinking a lack of funds would keep you out of Friday’s Parenthetical Girls show at the Eagle Tavern (normally 8 bucks at the door) or Saturday’s After-party with Howlin’ Rain at El Rio (also $8 at the door), then you’re in luck! Our friends at the festival have hooked us up with a pair of tickets to each. And as if that weren’t enough, they’ve also donated passes to the Short Film Revolution and the screening of Why Isn’t Chris von Sneidern Famous? – (YouTube Trailer) a documentary on the local singer/songwriter’s “passionate search for artistic freedom and success, and the challenge posed by the inevitable disparity between our dreams and life’s reality.” I think we can all relate to that.
If you’re itchin’ to go, email us at info@brokeassstuart.com with your show of choice and maybe a fancy little haiku about a fun experience you had at Eagle Tavern. Winners will be chosen at random by the Editor in Cheap.
For a full list of bands and FREE shows going on Tonight through Sunday, pop on over to the Festival website and we’ll see you out there!
