Shhh… there’s a Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory in Greenpoint, too
The lines at Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory in Dumbo are almost as famous as the ice cream itself… but it’s totally worth it, right? Like, it’s gotta be… why else would people decide that standing outside for over an hour for something that’s available on almost every other street corner from a Mister Softee truck is a good idea?
Now I’m going to give you a golden ticket of arsenal… are you ready? OK, are you ready now? There’s another location in Greenpoint that has everything the Dumbo location does, minus the waiting outside for a ridiculous amount of time. You can also add one of the most undiscovered great views of the Manhattan skyline and a nearby HQ of adorable homeless cats, in case you’re into those kinds of things.
A lot of people will be against the whole “chasin-er-riding the G train” to get there, which is probably why it’s not that popular. But it’s close to what has quickly become a hotbed of cute stores and restaurants on Franklin Street–perfect for a post-lick stroll–and again, there’s that whole hour of your life that you didn’t waste waiting in line thing that’s pretty much awesome, even if you just decide to spend the extra time playing with the nearby homeless cats.
