Two More Days to Visit Canstruction

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

The 2010 Canstruction competition is almost over! The annual contest to build the most interesting sculpture entirely out of full cans of food will be on display for another two days at the World Financial Center Winter Garden. This year’s entrants include a can version of The Standard Hotel, Mr. Potato Head, Battleship, and Super Mario Bros. The exhibit is FREE but a donation of canned goods is encouraged. When the sculptures are dismantled Monday, and go back to being plain old vessels for chili and fruit cocktail, all the food is donated to City Harvest and distributed to hungry New Yorkers.

Katy B. - Economic Inexpert

Katy B. grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the home of Gerald R. Ford, Andy Richter, and, at one point, the guy who wrote Mr. Holland's Opus. She moved to NYC for her degree in library science, and is now in the Media Studies program at The New School. She hopes to one day be a film studies librarian. Ask her anything about Dewey Decimal – anything! – and she will roll her eyes because academic libraries use Library of Congress. Durrr.
