Happy Hour in SOMA at Maya

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

My coworker is obsessed with dropping in on Maya after work. Her words: “Yeah, it’s full of douchers, but I can handle assholes for a good deal.” Spoken like a true broke-ass.

What sort of deals, you ask? For starters, their happy hour happens every day of the week and starts at 4:30, which is perfect because I think that’s about the time most 9-5ers check out of work emotionally. You can grab $2 tacos, $3 draft beers, and $5 cocktails. But wait! On the weekdays, they also have FREE botanas (that’s “snacks” for all you kids that slept through high school Spanish).

If you find yourself not wanting alcohol for some reason (I can’t relate), you can also reap the benefits of their $12 lunch or $18 dinner specials. I’m too lazy to list out all the plate variations, but you can figure it out for yourself here.

Rebecca graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Literature, but she tells everyone she majored in Psychology so they don't ask her for book recommendations. She likes coffee, pickles, free yoga classes, and spends a lot of time with her dog.
